Save an infected tooth and relieve pain with gentle root canal therapy.

A root canal saves a tooth when its inner pulp is damaged by decay, infection, or trauma. We remove the bacteria and damaged tissue, then seal the space with sterile material, restoring the tooth instead of removing it.

Signs you may need a root canal

  • Extreme or lingering toothache.
  • Tenderness or swelling, or an abscess on the gums.
  • Sensitivity to hot and cold.
  • Pain while chewing, or pain that keeps you awake.

What treatment involves

We fully numb the tooth for a comfortable, painless procedure. The decay and infected pulp are removed, and the canal is cleaned and filled with a sealing material called gutta-percha to prevent reinfection.

Because a treated tooth can be fragile, it is usually protected with a build-up core and a crown. Most root canals are completed in a single visit, though curved canals, multiple canals, or significant infection may need additional appointments.
