Dentures are removable appliances that replace missing teeth and improve your smile. Whether you have lost some or all of your teeth to decay, gum disease, or injury, dentures restore your appearance and oral health, designed to closely match your natural teeth.
Types of dentures
- Full dentures: a complete set on an acrylic base colored to match your gums, which can also attach to implants.
- Partial dentures: an acrylic or metal framework that clasps around your natural teeth.
- Immediate dentures: a temporary set worn the same day teeth are removed, while gums heal.
How dentures are made
We take impressions of your dental tissues, and the lab uses them to build a model of your mouth. Over about 4 to 5 weekly visits, we refine the fit, bite, and appearance until your dentures look and feel right.
Caring for dentures
- Clean dentures daily to remove plaque and food particles.
- Brush gently with a soft-bristled brush and a non-abrasive cleanser.
- Soak removable dentures in water overnight as directed.
