Common dental emergencies

Severe toothache, swelling, knocked-out or loosened teeth, broken restorations, and soft-tissue injuries are among the most common emergencies. Prompt treatment often makes the difference between saving and losing a tooth.

Accidents that crack or fracture teeth

A fall, sports injury, or biting something hard can crack or fracture a tooth. Rinse gently with warm water, apply a cold compress to reduce swelling, and call us. Avoid chewing on the affected side until we can evaluate it.

Crown fell out

If a crown comes loose or falls out, keep it in a clean container and call us. Avoid chewing on that side and do not use household glue. We can usually re-cement or replace the crown quickly to protect the tooth underneath.

Lost filling

A lost filling exposes the tooth to sensitivity and further decay. Keep the area clean, avoid hard or sugary foods, and schedule a visit. We will replace the filling and check for any underlying decay.
