Custom caps that restore the strength, shape, and look of a damaged tooth.
A dental crown is a cap that covers a tooth to restore its shape, size, strength, and appearance. Crowns protect cracked or weakened teeth and help you chew and speak comfortably again.
When a crown helps
- Large cavities that cannot be filled.
- Restoring missing teeth as part of a dental bridge.
- Full coverage for a dental implant or after a root canal.
- Protecting and strengthening pediatric or fractured teeth.
How the procedure works
We numb the area, then prepare the tooth, restoring it with a filling first if needed. We shape the tooth to make room for the crown and capture a digital impression, matching the shade to your natural teeth.
While the lab fabricates a permanent dental-grade ceramic crown, we place a temporary crown. At your next visit we cement the permanent crown and make any final adjustments. Same-day CEREC crowns may also be available.
Caring for crowns
Crowns need the same care as natural teeth. Brush and floss twice daily, rinse with mouthwash, and keep regular dental checkups.
